The Municipality of Tabuk, in cooperation with security and regulatory authorities, thwarted an attempt to pump about 20 tons of expired food products into the markets, after successfully seizing and confiscating the quantities before they reached consumers.

The official spokesperson for the Municipality of Tabuk, Yahya Al-Jarrah, explained that the regulatory teams responded to a report in coordination with the relevant authorities, where two trucks loaded with expired food products were spotted on the Madinah road in Tabuk city, which included canned food and potato chips, totaling nearly 20 tons.

He added that the municipality coordinated with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and field control teams to complete the legal procedures, where a joint seizure report was prepared and all confiscated quantities were destroyed at the municipality’s landfill, with all seizure and destruction procedures documented. He confirmed that joint efforts continue to monitor violations and prevent the arrival of unfit products for consumption to the markets, in order to protect the health and safety of consumers.
