The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken additional precautionary measures to mitigate the risks associated with the outbreak of the Ebola virus, based on an assessment by the relevant health authorities of the epidemiological situation. These measures include suspending travel for citizens to the Republic of Kenya, suspending the issuance of all types of visas for those coming from there, and preventing the entry of arrivals from Kenya into the Kingdom, including those coming through other countries who have stayed in Kenya or in countries that have witnessed an outbreak of the virus during the 21 days prior to their arrival in the Kingdom.
These measures are an extension of the preventive actions that the Kingdom began implementing since July 2019, which were strengthened in May 2026 for arrivals from countries experiencing risks of Ebola virus outbreaks, as part of a proactive approach to continuous monitoring and assessment of health risks, and coordination with relevant authorities both locally and internationally, to protect the health of citizens, residents, and visitors, and to contribute to enhancing global health security.
The Kingdom had previously suspended in June 2026 travel for citizens and arrivals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Uganda, and the Republic of South Sudan, in addition to enhancing precautionary measures for those coming from neighboring countries with virus outbreak areas, including screening at entry points, epidemiological investigation, and activating early health response mechanisms.
The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” confirmed that the health situation in the Kingdom is reassuring and is subject to careful and continuous monitoring, noting the ongoing surveillance of epidemiological developments regionally and internationally, in coordination with the relevant authorities inside and outside the Kingdom, and taking necessary preventive measures according to the developments in the epidemiological situation, which enhances health response readiness and maintains the health and safety of everyone.
